1. Can you tell us a little bit about the history and mission of Tiediet?
Back when I was in college (2013) I used to love buying clothes in thrift stores. But I didn’t want it to be plain. So I did various experiments like tie-dying, bleaching, and tattering. Then overtime I’ve made my own patterns for tie-dye. Also worked with denim.
2. How do you approach the design process when creating your hand-made tie-dye products?
Well basically I just love color. And how different color combinations can have so much effect on you. I’m mostly inspired by food and nature. Also I put an incantation to mix with “Love and Gratitude”. So the good vibes are there.
3. How did you go about merging the aesthetics of Tiediet and Gwapitos to create the collaboration collection?
Gwapitos is Siargao-based. So I had to make the shirts that reflected that. I chose specific colors that feel chill and vibrant.
Also then patterns to be wavy.
4. What are your personal favorite pieces from the Tiediet x Gwapitos collection and why?
Fresh Water! Since it’s simple and a perfect classic piece.
